Join CFPA to dismantle a bridge which was destroyed and covered by debris during the August 19th storm. The work will primarily consist of excavating the bridge out of debris, and then disassembling it using drills and other tools. Potentially, the disassembled wood will be hiked out or placed in a neat pile before the end of the day.
All tools provided. All skills welcome. Come prepared to get dirty and have fun. Working in a stream bed, you may get muddy or slightly wet. We will be working in uneven, rocky and steep terrain.
Please bring LOTS of water, snacks, bug spray, sun block, snack, rain gear, work gloves, backpack to carry your gear, and any personal items you need to spend a few hours in the woods. Please be sure to wear long pants & sturdy closed-toe shoes. There is always the risk of poison ivy, mosquitos, and ticks. No pets please.
Lydia, CFPA's Assistant Trails Coordinator will meet you at the Jackson Cove Parking area by the pavilion at 9am. Directions to parking are here: Google Directions Link. Many of the roads in this area may still be closed, or closed to through traffic. You are able to drive to the parking area, but may need to pass road closure signs. When parking, explain you are part of the CFPA trail work group.
Thanks for your support of CFPA and the Blue-Blazed Hiking Trails!
