Join CFPA to move bridge materials into Scovill. The primary work will include unloading lumber from rail cars, and moving it to the work site. We will be hiking about a mile each way from the parking lot to reach the rail line. All tools provided. All skills welcome. Come prepared to get dirty and have fun. We will be working in uneven, rocky and steep terrain. The lumber haul will be a relatively short event. If volunteers wish to stay after to build trail, you are welcome to.
Please bring water, snacks, rain gear, work gloves, backpack to carry your gear, and any personal items you need to help unload and move lumber. Please be sure to wear long pants & sturdy closed-toe shoes. There is always the risk of poison ivy, mosquitos, and ticks. No pets please.
Julia, CFPA's Trail Intern, will meet you at the Scovill Parking lot at 10am. Directions to parking are here: Google Directions Link.
Thanks for your support of CFPA and the Blue-Blazed Hiking Trails!
There are two simultaneous work parties happening. The first will load lumber onto the rail cars at the Depot, while the second will help unload the lumber and move it to the work site in conjunction with the Connecticut Woodland Conservation Corps.
